Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, sappers have neutralized approximately 10,000 explosive devices in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Every day, even following familiar routes, people in frontline areas face constant danger. That is why knowledge about risks and safe behavior is not just important — it is essential for survival in today’s reality.

To address this urgent need, the entire Zaporizhzhia team of Voice of Romni completed a three-day training course, “Instructor Training on Public Awareness of the Risks Associated with Mines and Explosive Remnants of War,” provided by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) — a certified humanitarian mine action operator in Ukraine.

Through this training, we gained the necessary knowledge to conduct educational sessions for Roma communities in frontline regions. Mines and unexploded ordnance remain a harsh reality that Ukraine will have to deal with for years to come. As a result of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine is now one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. The skills we acquired are incredibly valuable, allowing us to respond to the pressing challenges of war and provide even more support to the Roma community.
