Voice of Romni at UNGA 81 in New York
This week, Anzhelika Bielova, President of the NGO Association of Roma Women “Voice of Romni”, is in New York, representing the organization at a series of events taking place during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).
Throughout the week, Anzhelika will contribute to international discussions on the localization of humanitarian funding, long-term partnerships with local organizations, women’s leadership, and the meaningful inclusion of Roma communities, internally displaced people (IDPs), and other vulnerable groups in Ukraine’s recovery and development processes.
A particular focus will be placed on the transition from short-term humanitarian assistance to long-term solutions shaped with the meaningful participation of local organizations and communities — strengthening their resilience while investing in people, opportunities, and sustainable development.
Anzhelika will also share Voice of Romni’s experience in supporting Roma women and communities, internally displaced people, and vulnerable groups living in frontline areas. She will emphasize the importance of ensuring that local organizations and affected communities have a meaningful role in shaping the decisions that determine their future.
