To mark International Youth Day, we’re excited to share some wonderful news: acting classes have begun at Voice of Romni!
The program covers the essentials — from the basics of acting and developing imagination to improvisation and actor psychotechniques.
Every child has the right to be themselves — whether they’re an extrovert or an introvert, in class, among friends, or in a new group. Our goal is to help them embrace their uniqueness and learn to express their thoughts, emotions, and ideas with respect for themselves and others. At the same time, we aim to gently nurture leadership qualities, teamwork, and confidence in public speaking — not through pressure, but through encouragement and inspiration.
That’s why at Voice of Romni, we constantly create opportunities for children to explore, make mistakes, and grow without fear. One of the best ways to do this is through creative activities that let them step into new roles and discover new sides of themselves. Exactly a year ago, on International Youth Day, we announced the launch of Roma dance classes at Voice of Romni. Today, we’re happy to share another milestone: acting classes for school-aged children have started in our spaces in Uzhhorod, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih. It’s a great opportunity for young participants to dive into creativity, unlock their talents, and simply enjoy the art of play.

Classes are held twice a week in small groups (up to 12 children) and last one hour. Experienced instructors use a range of techniques: games, improvisation, short scenes, voice and movement exercises, and the ensemble method — where the focus is not on individual performance, but on the interaction within the group.

The children develop qualities that matter in everyday life: they become more open, communicative, confident, and ready to take initiative.
In each city, the program is led by skilled mentors:
- In Uzhhorod, classes take place at the “Provocator” theatre studio under the guidance of its founder — actor, director, and educator Liubomyr Helias.

- In Zaporizhzhia, sessions are held at Voice of Romni’s children’s space, led by Ilona Nanykina — a trainer in rhetoric, acting, and creative thinking.

- In Kryvyi Rih, classes also take place in our children’s space, taught by professional theatre and film actress, founder of the children’s theatre studio “Anshlag,” and voice coach Viktoriia Ivasikh.

The training will last three months and will conclude with final performances — a chance to see what our young actors and actresses have learned. These classes are an important step toward helping today’s students grow into adults who can act, create, and lead with confidence.
