The “Small Repairs” project became possible thanks to our reliable partners at OXFAM. In 2024, together, we managed to restore the homes of 50 Roma families in the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. We are confident that by joining efforts, we are building a just future.

“We heard an explosion. Our windows were blown out. We had nothing to cover them with, so we had to use plastic sheets,” recalls Aliona, a resident of Kryvyi Rih, describing one of the many russian shellings.

The frontline city constantly suffers from enemy attacks. Last year, the woman’s house was damaged, making it impossible to live there under such conditions. It’s especially challenging when there are family members with disabilities at home who require daily care and a safe environment.

Aliona was unable to repair her home on her own. However, after learning about the “Small Repairs” project, she applied. Within a few months, we replaced the windows and doors in her house to provide support during this challenging time.

“I am grateful that the Voice of Romni took care of us. Whenever there is additional help, we go and receive it. They never refuse us. They provide diapers for the children and food. They always support us,” shares Aliona.

Her story is just one of many that highlight the importance of comprehensive support for Roma families. This assistance includes providing food, hygiene supplies, as well as legal, psychological, and financial aid, along with development opportunities. We work to ensure that, even in the most challenging moments, people feel they are not left to face their struggles alone.
