On May 14, an exhibition of artworks by the participants of the “Sakura Art” plein air took place in the very heart of Mukachevo.

Forty vibrant artworks by students from two art schools — “Rom-Art” and the Munkácsy Children’s Art School — were brought together in a single exhibition space. During the sakura blossom season, each student created two pieces: one thematic and one creative. The best works were selected for inclusion in the catalogue.

The event was also attended by the president of “Voice of Romni,” Anzhelika Bielova, together with her team. She engaged with Roma youth and learned more about their artistic achievements.

This is the second time we have supported the art initiative led by Tiberiy Yonash, the author and visionary behind the project — this time in partnership with Center for Disaster Philanthropy. His words are especially meaningful:

“Through art school and creativity, I engage children in education,” says Tiberiy Yonash.

And it’s absolutely true. Painting is just one part of the process. In reality, it’s about motivation, self-belief, and moving toward the future. We sincerely thank Tiberiy Yonash for his initiative and for seeking out and developing talents within Roma communities, artist and educator Ihor Lutsenko, as well as the Mukachevo City Council for supporting the development of young artists.
