Research: “Identity, Gender Aspects, and Traditions”

The study on gender-based violence (GBV) and gender practices within the Roma community was conducted by Vox Populi Agency at the request of the NGO “Union of Roma Women Voice of Romni from December 21, 2023, to January 31, 2024.

The primary goal of the research is to initiate an essential dialogue about equality in patriarchal Roma culture and address the issue of gender-based violence, which often remains a taboo subject within Roma communities. We believe this is the first step toward addressing these challenges.

The research involved respondents from Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Uzhhorod and was carried out through collaboration between Voice of Romni and Mercy Corps with support from the UK government. We are confident that the findings will contribute to developing effective mechanisms for preventing and combating gender-based violence both within and outside Roma communities.

Research "The State of Roma Communities During the War in Ukraine"

The research on the needs of Roma communities was conducted in 5 regions of Ukraine by the company “Active Group” on behalf of the public organization “Union of Roma Women Voice of Romni as part of the project “Capacity Building of Roma NGOs in Ukraine,” implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with support from Switzerland.

We are convinced that this research will help government authorities, donors, and NGOs better understand the needs of the Roma community, especially after the war began, and develop effective support programs. The results were presented on July 9, 2024, at an online forum for government representatives, international partners, and Roma activists.
