Anzhelika Bielova was awarded for her active and persistent efforts to ensure equal rights and greater opportunities for Roma men and women.

She, along with other participants, was invited to events dedicated to International Roma Day, which took place in the atrium of the Regional Administration. There, attendees honored the memory of fallen defenders — including members of the Roma community — with a moment of silence, and prayed for peace and Ukraine’s victory.

The Roma anthem “Djelem, Djelem” was performed, followed by a duet from the Academy of Culture and Arts who sang “Sonechko”, a song that brought a special atmosphere of unity, strength, and hope.

It was heartening to see Roma servicemen among the invited guests — standing shoulder to shoulder with other defenders of our country. It is thanks to their courage that we are able to continue working for our community.

Participants of the event also walked to the Uzh River, where they lit a memorial candle as a symbol of unity among the Roma people and released a wreath into the water in remembrance of their difficult history.
