Learning and sharing experiences. November events featuring the ‘Voice of Romni’
Growth, experience-sharing, and strengthening partnerships are the foundation of our work.
Throughout November, representatives of “Voice of Romni” actively participated in significant events, some of which we have already shared with you. Each training and learning opportunity provides us with new knowledge, skills, and ideas to become even more effective. We’d like to share insights from a few more of these events.
WenDo Training in Kryvyi Rih
On November 9-10, the women’s space of “Voice of Romni,” “Place of Strength,” hosted a WenDo training—a modern method of violence prevention for women and girls. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Feminist Network.
During the training, participants learned how to identify dangerous situations and respond to them. This approach combines self-defense strategies for cases of gender-based violence, assertiveness training (the ability to stand up for one’s views without violating the moral rights of others), feminist pedagogy, and practice.
The training provided a unique opportunity to unite strong and talented women of Kryvyi Rih into a circle of support and solidarity while mastering new skills.
BRIDGE Forum in Dnipro
From November 13 to 15, Dnipro hosted the inaugural three-day BRIDGE Forum (Building Resilient Institutional Development & Growth Empowerment), bringing together over 200 participants. The event served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between local civil society organizations, international partners, and donors.
Our representatives gained invaluable experience, explored innovative solutions in humanitarian aid, and shared their own achievements. Polina Borshch, our regional coordinator from Zaporizhzhia, shared her impressions:
“Events like these create powerful opportunities for change and the development of new initiatives. Bringing together such a large number of people with diverse experiences and resources can become a driving force for providing effective aid and support to those who need it most.”
Inclusion Week by Mercy Corps in Dnipro
On November 20, we presented our work at the “Inclusion Week” training organized by Mercy Corps in Dnipro. Our coordinators, Olha Kovalchuk and Polina Borshch, shared their experiences in supporting the Roma community, integrating gender equality, and protecting the rights of Roma men and women.
The event was an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and tools that will help us implement programs even more effectively.
Mental Health Forum in Kryvyi Rih
On November 29, our representatives were speakers at the Mental Health and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Forum. The event was organized by “Voice of Romni” partners — the NGO True Hope.
Our coordinators presented the findings of a comprehensive study on gender practices in Roma communities and shared insights into the activities of “Voice of Romni.”
The work continues, and even more activities lie ahead. We remain committed to improving, supporting the Roma community, and expanding our network of partners. Together, we create positive change!
