It was a great honour for us to receive an invitation to the reception marking the 235th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May — one of the first modern written constitutions in Europe and an important symbol of the development of democratic institutions and the rule of law.

The President of Voice of Romni, Anzhelika Bielova, had the opportunity to join the official ceremony in Kyiv, attended by Mr Piotr Łukasiewicz, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland, and Ms Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania.

Participation in such events is another opportunity to highlight the importance of the Constitution as a foundation for equality, non-discrimination, and the protection of the rights of all people without exception — especially during wartime, when the rights of vulnerable communities, including the Roma community, require greater attention.

Today, for Ukraine, constitutional values are inseparable from the struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice. They are also about protecting those who must have an equal right to safety, access to social services, and participation in decision-making.

Such events are especially meaningful because they reflect support and shared democratic values that unite countries and people in difficult times. Since the first days of the full-scale war, Poland and Lithuania have stood alongside Ukraine. They have opened their homes to Ukrainian families forced to flee the war, supported humanitarian initiatives, and helped our communities endure and keep faith in the future.

At Voice of Romni, we work to ensure that the principles of equality and non-discrimination are not merely declarative, but are genuinely implemented at the community level — particularly for Roma women and families who face systemic barriers.

We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in events that address shared European values and emphasize the importance of protecting human rights as the foundation of a democratic society. We thank Poland and Lithuania for their partnership and support!
