“This cursed war has destroyed our entire life. All our plans came to nothing,” says a mother of six children from Zaporizhzhia.

The family lives in a frontline city, in an area that constantly suffers from shelling. Explosions, air raid alerts, a damaged home, and fear for the children have all become part of their everyday life. The children are afraid to go outside, so they spend almost all their time at home.

Unfortunately, the family is unable to meet their basic needs on their own: only the father works, while the mother devotes all her time to caring for the children. Their small house, damaged as a result of attacks, lacked enough sleeping places, furniture, and a comfortable space for learning.

“They need a proper study space, somewhere bright, cozy, and comfortable, but we did not have that. We also needed sleeping places for the children because our house is small, there was nowhere to place everyone, and it was very difficult for us,” the mother shares.

This case required comprehensive individual support from our team. The children received new beds to replace the old unsafe ones, as well as mattresses, bed linen, desks, chairs, children’s clothing and shoes, firewood for the heating season, money for food. It was also important to help restore the children’s psycho-emotional well-being and bring back their sense of safety. To support this process, facilitators worked with the children.
